Rooted in Accra since 1970.

It began with six children in a garage in Labone. Today Dison International School teaches the Cambridge pathway, from Reception to A Level, on a four-acre campus at Burma Hills.

Our story

Six children, one garage, and a school that kept growing.

In September 1970, Dolly Memorial Crèche and Nursery School opened in the garage of house D7, Labone Estates, with six children.

Families trusted it, and it grew. In 2007 we acquired four acres of land at East La, behind Burma Camp, from the East Dadekotopon Development Trust, to build a primary and a secondary school under a new name: Dison International School.

Our primary school opened on the Dolly Memorial premises in 2013, when Dolly Memorial was caring for around 500 children in its crèche, nursery and kindergarten. In September 2015 the school moved to its new home at Burma Hills.

Today we teach the Cambridge pathway, from Reception to A Level, to learners from many cultures. Everything we do is guided by our motto: Dignity in Service.

Leadership

The people who lead DIS.

The Acting Principal and the School Administrator run the school day to day. A Board of Directors governs it.

Acting Principal

Mr Anthony A. Takyi

A certified Cambridge educator, Mr Takyi joined DIS in the 2015/16 academic year as a classroom teacher. He went on to lead the IT Department and After-School Services, became Vice Principal and is now Acting Principal. He has taught ICT across Key Stages 1 to 4 and prepares learners for IGCSE and A Level.

Mr Nathaniel Nartey, Esq.

Mr Nartey joined the Dison family in 2009 as Administrative Coordinator. He holds a degree in Administration (Banking and Finance) from the University of Ghana Business School, an LLB from GIMPA and the Professional Law Certificate from the Ghana School of Law.

Executive Director since January 2017. A professional accountant with over 20 years of senior corporate management experience.

Mrs Felicity Cudjoe

Director

Trained in Early Childhood Education with Modern Montessori International, London, with over 27 years in early childhood education.

Mrs Laurinda Addy

Director

A Chartered Administrator and Certified Management Consultant, with an Executive MBA from the Paris Graduate School of Management.

Director

A journalist, and Washington, DC Bureau Chief for AMIP News.

1970

Four acres at East La

Land behind Burma Camp is acquired from the East Dadekotopon Development Trust to build primary and secondary schools under a new name: Dison International School.

Our primary school opens
